Mortgage Jitters Hit Puerto Peñasco?

-by El Gitano Peñasco, "The Peñasco Gypsy"

You may not like timesharing but did you know that there is a well known and very successful timeshare company in Arizona that will not allow residents of Maricopa County, AZ, (about 4 Million strong) to attend their sales presentations in exchange for gifts, discounts or premiums?

So what you ask? Well, first you should know that the highest percentage of prospective buyers of timeshare plans are indeed home-owners, so that means this company is seeing a trend that business owners and city officials here in Peñasco need to ponder.

Then, added to that is the next (new) wave in the mortgage debacle with the foreclosure crisis and the announcement Wednesday that “officials in all 50 states unveiled a joint investigation into mortgage companies’ conduct during foreclosure proceedings”.

Now add it all together, especially considering how hard Phoenix was hit by the first mortgage crisis and how that affected (and still affects) Puerto Peñasco. Clearly, even a rock stupid Gypsy can forecast that the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is much further away than what others may be touting (once again).

Is the sky falling? Well, the sky DID fall a couple years back. Yet amidst all negative situations there is always a wealth of opportunity for those thinking outside the box. But be forewarned that if business and government leaders here in Peñasco continue with their marketing status quo, well, from a jobs and revenue perspective our community faces a long and troubled Camino ahead!

¡Viva Puerto Peñasco y México!
