“It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!” Not so fast, Pilgrim, because according to Tim Johnson of the McClatchy Company, the third-largest newspaper company in the United States, it’s ‘ultralights’ buzzing around Sonoyta, Sonora, and some may be carrying hundreds of pounds of drugs heading for the ‘I-Need’ crowd north of the border!
Apparently what is originating from parts yet unknown in Sonora is that drug gangs “are getting some 'gofer' out there to jump on these things, and then it's, 'Hasta la vista, baby'" and with barely a flight lesson off they go into the wild blue yonder where these winged ‘runners’ have been spotted, in what is being called a “new phenomenon”, many miles inside the U.S.A.
Once they reach their destination these (mostly) night-flying contraptions don’t land; instead they fly lower to the ground, drop their ‘loads’ and then it’s up-up and away they go, turning around back to Sonora for another…
Of course, now there are the usual politicians wanting to change Federal/State laws (US; and probably Mexico, too) that will forever affect honest people who fly these ‘birds’ (who aren’t involved in drug running). And of course the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is getting involved, too, and others are demanding that the government ‘shoot ‘em down’!
So tax payers will soon spend a few more ‘billion’ (just on this) while politicians make speeches about how strong they are on the miserably failed ‘War on Drugs’ (costing untold ‘Billions’ and ruining ‘Millions’ of lives) trying their hardest to cram in more laws, eliminating more ‘freedoms’.
And in the meantime the drug cartels will likely get out some drawings (available online and at libraries) of ancient catapults, reconfigure the ranges, etc. and ‘bam’, another well placed load will land to meet the ever-increasing demand in the U.S.A. of the ‘silent-majority’ who are (but won’t admit it) the ones consuming the lion's share of these ‘substances’!
¡Viva Puerto Peñasco y México!
