With autumn in the air and the heat nearly a memory, I’m sure there are those negocios in Peñasco that are once again thinking of, gearing up for and banking on the coming Spring Break season for 2011.
Si, that is several months down the camino and we have the vacaciones to get through, but those of us on in years know only too well tiempo stands still for nobody and before you know it that time of the year for the kiddies to arrive in all their luster and gleeful enthusiasm will once again be upon our community.
That said, and considering what is really going on in wonderful Mexico, I’m wondering what los negocios have in mind as a ‘back-up’ plan should something occur (anywhere in this Nation) between now and the big fiesta that forces the promoters of ‘Spring Break’ to decide the little darlings should instead consider other places for their folly.
I’m not saying the ‘sky is falling’ and I have no real numbers, but based on daily cash spent by the mostly college age crowd that partakes in the annual event, should this coming party not take place here then a whole lot of workers, businesses and city coffers are going to be out a whole bunch of tamales, so to speak!
As I’ve said over the years and continue to this day, preparing to make money on future events that may (or may not) occur and over which one has no control as far as what may prevent those events from happening, is not a wise decision. And although none of us have a crystal ball, there are some ‘signs’ that should be considered…
And one of those is the fact that there is the real possibility that this coming ‘Spring-Break’ 2011 may get cancelled in many parts of Mexico including our own beloved Puerto Peñasco and if that happens, well, that will not be good a good thing!
¡Viva Puerto Peñasco y México!
