A Fence Por Puerto Peñasco!

-by El Gitano Peñasco, "The Peñasco Gypsy"

And once again there is another politician who wants to build more fences to keep those ‘undesirables’ out of the U.S.A. This time it is a transplanted dweeb from the State of Michigan who moved to AZ in 2001, recently became a Republican member of the Arizona State Senate and represents the 23rd district, which I believe is in Pinal County.

Having his home now in the city of Maricopa, State Senator Steve Smith has launched (perhaps using tax-payer dollars?) a website endeavor hoping to raise money from citizens around AZ, perhaps the entire USA (and maybe the world) to pay for fencing along the US/Mex border.

That fencing will be placed on both public and private lands and what is absolutely unbelievable is that his goal is to raise at least $50 Million (dollars) but according to an Associated Press article by Paul Davenport on July 20, 2011: “What the money will actually buy has yet to be determined.”

Translated; Yet another politician saying give us your hard earned money; trust us even though we’ve got no plan on what we’re going to do with your money! Sounds sort of familiar, doesn’t it?

But thank the good Lord that Smith will have yet another committee formed as he stated, “A border security advisory committee consisting of legislators, state agency directors and county sheriffs will make recommendations to the Legislature on how and where to spend the money.”

The AP article went on to assure us all that the Senator “expects the site's content will be updated as soon as Thursday, once it is determined that its donation application is up and running reliably” and that “the advisory committee will get regular updates on how much money is raised, and a running tally may be added to the site itself.”

Notice the “may be added” aspect to any money raised. But not to worry because Smith concluded his declaration by again assuring us all that "We're going to be extraordinarily open and transparent to the penny of what we have.”

Well that all sure makes me feel better, how about you? He is also telling ‘donors’ that they may be able to get a tax deduction, too, but what I want to know is how can anyone deduct anything off of their taxes for donating to something whereby the recipients don’t know “what the money will actually buy”?

Probably just another one of those government ‘entitlements’ or ‘tax shelters’ that many politicians know how to use to their advantage!

As such, I, too, am going to start a ‘fence’ fund for our beloved Peñasco so start sending me your money today. Now, I won’t need $50 Million dollars and you won’t be able to deduct anything off your taxes but for everyone who sends me their hard earned money I’ll meet you at the watering hole of your choice for some cold-ones (with the first round on me of course because that is the kind of Gypsy I am). And then I’ll share my plan.

And don’t worry, as I know exactly what I’ll use the money for: To put up a 1,000 foot high fence that completely encircles the land mass of our city, man it 24/7/365 with a brigade-size of specially trained machine gun toting crack troops who “wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins”* in their “teeth” and “Eat dead burnt bodies”* etc. and keep the ‘undesirables’ from stepping foot in our slice of paradise.

Starting with…

AZ (23rd district) State Senator Steve Smith.
